Palm Springs
What if a place could be both canvas and catalyst—revealing modernism’s pulse and the stories it still tells?
As curator and guide, Dylan Turk led an immersive cultural tour in Palm Springs, interweaving key moments from Desert X and Modernism Week with thoughtfully chosen architectural visits. Highlights included Sterling Ruby’s Desert X installation, a private studio tour with Phillip K Smith III, and architectural visit to the Albert Frey II House, and a curated walkthrough of the Palm Springs Art Museum. The experience blended contemporary art, architecture, and design with an insider’s understanding context and craft.
Palm Springs is more than a backdrop—it’s an archive of modernist ideals and creative exploration. By interesting art installations with architectural landmarks and artist spaces, the trip invited participants to see how the desert landscape, light, and legacy continue to shape cultural expression. It highlighted how place-based programming can deepen engagement, not just through objects, but through lived experience and collective memory.
