Our Story
We are a mother and son duo whose love for art, design, and pop culture is embedded in our DNA. We founded KIN in 2018 when demand for our expertise came calling.
KIN is crafted by our labor of long time loves, late night brainstorming, and the full, real belief that you are never too young to start an empire or too old to begin a new dream.
The CEO and Creative Director for KIN, Dylan is the tastemaker that defines where we go and manages the business. Leaning on an expansive professional background, dotted with career defining projects, Dylan thrives in the unfamiliar or undefined. At the heart of his practice is the belief that ‘there are no rules in art—there can’t be. To impress ourselves by making something of now, we must know the past and be unafraid of the unfamliar walk forward.’
He holds every project we work on to the highest standard of creativity and artistic consideration. From 2015-2022 he served as a member of the curatorial team at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. At Crystal Bridges he curated Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman-Wilson House, All or Nothing and The Garden, Architecture at Home, among others.
“Contagious is actually a great descriptor,” says Rod Bigelow, Executive Director and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Director at Crystal Bridges, when asked about Turk’s talent for sharing his passion. “It doesn’t matter who sits in front of him, they are going to be his energy. And his perspective is completely contagious. Even the manner in which he connects makes you feel like you’re the only person in the space—and that kind of brings you right along, which is amazing.”
The Arts Director and Director of Moodswing, Christie is an artist through and through. She sees how things come together, and translates it into visual form. A career of making art, brands, experiences, and movements, Christie dives in deep with anything she touches. Working with her hands is her greatest joy. She has the greatest color matching skills we’ve ever seen (fuck Pantone). She champions the handmade, and encourages us to take the slow path.
Her talent and lifetime experience as a working artist sets KIN apart. We always prioritize the artist and their process, often serving as the translator to the client. She plays a crucial role in how art unites within a space. Christie is the founder behind Roll&Tumble Press, a successful letterpress studio that redefined the artistic possibilities of that historic medium. At her core, Christie believes in the importance of creativity and the transformational power of trusting yourself in the artistic process.
At Moodswing, Christie leads how we engage with materiality, embroidery, and all artwork passes through her hands. Learn more about Moodswing by visiting here.
